Overview
Action Learning is a rapidly growing and powerful approach to group coaching that works with group dynamics to enhance reflective practice, solve problems, build strengths, while fostering new awareness. Through our program, you will learn how to facilitate Action Learning sets so that participants develop in two different yet connected ways.
Firstly, you will learn how to co-create an Action Learning environment that fosters effective group coaching. This entails understanding the group dynamics and creating a safe, collaborative space where participants can engage, reflect, and share openly and be coached by the group. By facilitating this environment, you enable meaningful discussions and problem-solving that enhance both individual and group growth. Through this process, you will help Action Learning set members to develop a deeper awareness of themselves and their interactions within the group, leading to improved well-being and more effective decision-making.
Secondly, you will master the art of staying on the boundary as an observer. This involves keenly observing the group's dynamics, to help set members make sense of the roles they are enacting on behalf of the group. By discussion and making sense of group dynamics, you enhance the participants' learning and self-awareness. This process encourages participants to adopt a systems-thinking approach, understanding their roles, how they interact and influence the group and the others systems they operate in. This deeper awareness fosters effective collaboration and improves overall group performance.

Three workshop format
1
Creating a Learning Environment
Experience and learn the fundamentals of creating an effective Action Learning environment. We will cover the essentials of establishing a collaborative, reflective, and supportive space for group coaching. We will also explore the underpinning theory of Action Learning, consider how culture and diversity might influence the experience of facilitating and participation and try being in a set for ourselves.
2
Facilitating Action Learning
In this workshop we will hone your skills, everyone takes a turn being the Action Learning facilitator. Other group members will provide feedback using a structured framework, so participants can reflect on and grow from each experience. This hands-on approach helps you build fluency and enhances collective learning. We will also start paying closer attention to the group dynamics, fostering a deeper understanding of our roles in the group.
3
Systems Thinking Awareness
We will continue to practice and receive feedback until everyone has had a turn, drawing out theory and learning points to consolidate learning. We will delve deeper into group dynamics and start to make connections to systems thinking.
